The Team

Who we are

We are Beth, Julie, and Kim, loved and redeemed sisters in Christ, walking this journey of transformation together.  God has captured our hearts with His great mercy and love, revealing himself to each of us in unique and personal ways. He has shown us the beauty of His grace, the power of His forgiveness, and the priceless treasure of His love.  Because of the redemption we have received, and are still experiencing, we are compelled to share His truth through Woven.

Beth Whartnaby

Beth believes God longs to see his children living in the peace, freedom, and fullness He has provided.  Her passion is creatively communicating the person and promises of God in a way that turns the light bulb on for women and allows them to move into a deeper, richer, relationship with Him.

She and her husband, Ed, are originally from the East coast and in their 32 years of marriage have lived in six different states.  For the past 13 years they have lived in Libertyville, Illinois and love it!  Beth and Ed have three boys.  Brian and his wife, Anna are both teachers.  Michael loves his job in sales and his life in Chicago. And Luke is a freshman in college who loves travel, politics, and their crazy dog, Leo.

During her years on staff at The Chapel (Lake County, Illinois), Beth gained valuable ministry experience, allowing her to train leaders, develop large group studies, write curriculum, and plan retreats and other transformational events.  She loves reading, writing, cooking, hanging out with her all boys (and her daughter-in-law!).   Beth and Ed attend Christ Church, Lake Forest, Illinois.

Julie Schawel

After graduating from college with a degree in public speaking, Julie realized she had nothing worthwhile to talk about – until she met Jesus! Now her deep love for Jesus and passion for the hearts of women makes speaking to large groups of people her favorite thing to do!  She loves to spend time with women who are seeking the presence of God in their lives and to journey together through the truth of His Word.

Julie and her husband, Brad are parents to three very active boys.  Chris is a senior in college, and their twins, Matthew and Jeffrey are juniors in high school.  All three play sports and fill their home with much joy and activity!  In her “spare” time, Julie aspires to be an avid scrapbooker with volumes of family memories lining her shelves, but has to laugh at the number of photos that stubbornly remain in boxes.

For many years Julie coordinated the women’s Bible study at her church, The Chapel, in Libertyville, Illinois.  Serving on staff for a while gave her a deeper understanding of the foundations for ministry.  But her ultimate calling is speaking the truth of God’s love to anyone who is willing to listen!

Kim Mayer

Kim’s life experiences as a young adult led her on a quest to truly know God.  Through this journey God revealed himself to her and fueled her with a passion to not only live her life endeavoring to know Him better, but to also lead others on this same exciting adventure!  Kim loves God’s Word and counts it a privilege to help others discover Him for themselves through the truth revealed in Scripture.

She is enthusiastic about life and has energy to spare!  She loves to browse antique stores, run 5Ks and walk her dog, Duke.  Kim and John, her husband of 32 years, live in Libertyville, Illinois and have three children, Alex, Emily and Olivia.  While she supports and encourages Alex and Emily in their new roles as young married adults, Kim relishes the role of cheerleader as she watches Olivia from the bleachers competing in her various sports.

Kim’s ministry strengths come from years of leading small group Bible studies, both in the church setting and in her home.  She is uniquely qualified to train and equip other small group leaders, and has most recently served at The Chapel, Libertyville.  Kim loves to dig into curriculum and find nuggets of gold, helping those she leads navigate God’s Word in a way that leads them to the truth and provides solid application for their lives.
