Frequently Asked Questions

Is Woven affiliated with a specific church or denomination?

No. Woven is a non-denominational, non-affiliated ministry. It is our heart to see the body of Christ united around the central truths of God’s Word. We embrace a creative experience that invites women from all faith backgrounds (or no faith background) to grow in their understanding of who God is and who they are in His eyes. We look forward to serving many different “flavors” of God’s children!

Who typically attends a Woven event?

The typical Woven participant is a woman. Beyond that, there is no “typical.” Woven events are designed to help you meet God, regardless of where you are on your spiritual journey, and go a little farther with Him. We believe we reflect God’s heart in our desire to serve any age, race, faith, and stage of life. Our differences are beautiful to Him, and to us.

Our women’s group has never hosted a retreat before. Would hosting a Woven retreat be a good way to start?

We think it would. Here’s why: A common ministry mistake is to “bite off more than you can chew” with the best of intentions. The result can be a less than top quality event and burned out volunteers. Allowing our team to do the “heavy lifting” involved in planning content, coordinating worship music, creating supporting material and facilitating breakout groups frees your team up to do more hands on ministry. In the process you can build up your leadership and volunteer teams by equipping them to do an effective job and encouraging them to have fun in the process!

The last retreat we organized exhausted our team and taxed our resources. How would a Woven retreat be different?

Being a good steward of our resources - funds, time, and energy - is always challenging. Planning a big event for a large group of people can be full of surprises. The Woven event package helps you know what to expect. We clearly outline what is provided, and are available to help you explore options for the rest. Our package also includes a timeline delineating deadlines to help you pace your efforts and provide clear guidelines for your volunteers.

We have some activities and goals that we would really like to see scheduled into our retreat weekend. Is there flexibility in the Woven schedule for our own ideas?

Yes. The event is best experienced around a Friday evening, all day Saturday, and Sunday morning time frame - which leaves plenty of time for other activities.  But the schedule is flexible and can also be formatted for a shorter event.  If you are interested in exploring options, please give us a call.

Our ministry team is full of enthusiastic and energetic volunteers, but we have very little experience. How can we be sure we will be able to host a Woven retreat?

If you’ve got a fun loving bunch of energetic and enthusiastic volunteers who love God and love women,  you are more equipped than you think. And you are one of the key groups of people we had in mind when Woven began. Whether you muddle through brainstorming, planning and executing an entire retreat yourself or not, your first retreat will be highly educational for your team. Taking advantage of the Woven team’s combined experience allows you to learn in a less painful way! And, more importantly, allows you to build into and solidify your own leadership team in the process.

I’m not a church leader or retreat organizer, but I am curious about Woven. How do I find out more?

Please contact us! We’d love to talk with you about what we do and why we do it. We truly believe that God created each one of us to be wholly redeemed by Jesus Christ, freed to live in the fullness of our true identity. Woven is all about helping women experience this redemption by discovering God’s truth and allowing it to transform their lives.
